And the adventure has begun...

Im sitting on a balcony, in a beautiful hotel in the outskirts of Nairobi, overlooking golf fields and feeling so calm and relaxed.. And so disconnected from the real world! Im in Kenya! School, PhD and project-related stress have no position in my life right now! Everything is far far far away and all that matters is the two weeks, filled with the unknown, ahead of me. 

The last few weeks have been exhausting.. I think the only thing which kept me going was knowing that I was leaving for Kenya soon! I feel my batteries charging already! Just sitting here, alone, sipping an amazing coffee, so far away from my own world..This must be the true meaning of holidays!

Although Im not here for holidays! Soon it will be hard stressful work! I ve got three days of briefing ahead of me and then Im sent to my Area of Responsibility, to observe the elections. I have to be alert, absorb a lot of information in a short time, co-operate with people I dont know, keep vigilant to all the dangers, deal with the side-effects of malaria pills and do the best job that I can, to justify my presence here. 

Im ready to embrace the new culture!
